Painting the Weather

The BBC is hosting a major art show, "Painting the Weather," available only on the web. You can choose between ten different kinds of weather and "see the nation's best weather pictures."

The paintings deal with more than just about the weather--Delacroix's crucifixion is included in "cloudy"--but it is a fun way to browse some beautiful works of art. An audio tour is available, as are brief notes about each painting. You can pick a desktop to match the weather outside, or perhaps to alert others about your mood.

It is late August and we are in Dallas, Texas. How about "Midsummer"?

Great concept! I was hoping to see Winslow Homer's The Gulf Stream, but it wasn't there...guess it's because the painting is not in the UK! (He's my favorite American impressionist!)
